If you can have end-to-end TCP, then use end-to-end TLS (e.g. with HTTPS). Don't reinvent the wheel, especially when it comes to cryptography — most people get it wrong. Unless the device is too resource-constrained to support TLS, if you get down to the level of AES, you're doing it wrong. #1 mistake is to encrypt and forget to authenticate — if you have ...

To ensure that your device is secure enough, I have several tips: Add some encryption to the Bluetooth communication. I'd recommend keeping the encryption keys off air. For example, you might ask the user to scan a QR code that's on the device, on printed in the box etc. at the initial setup of mobile app, maybe with an AES key? Up to you. This is to ...

The flic button from shortcut labs meets most (but not all) of your requirements. (not cheap and the light only comes on when the button is pushed iirc, but might be hackable/fixable at the firmware level) I think you might struggle to find something that meets your size requirements given a cr 2032 battery is 2cm diameter before you add any case and is 3....

Your best source of consumer IoT that use/generate large amounts of data is most likely going to be Camera/streaming video devices. Advances in on device motion/person detection mean that even these sort thing are more likely to only stream video when events are detected or the use explicitly requests to watch the stream.

It is said in netgear pages that: After you integrate your Arlo cameras into the SmartThings app, you must use the SmartThings app to configure your modes and rules. If you edit your modes and rules in the Arlo app, you disarm the SmartThings mode. So, custom Modes and all logics should be on Smartthings side.

It probably won't come as a surprise to you, but it doesn't seem like there are any pre-existing solutions which can link your devices together. However, since you said you were interested in custom-built solutions, you might be able to get close to what you want. I did a bit of research into your devices to see if they had open APIs you could take ...

The only two network types you can count on on a phone are WiFi and BLE (or cellular, but you told us there’s no Internet). LoRa is indeed never available. WiFi requires the user to connect to the network (network name and usually password, though this can be provided as a QR Code), and phones don’t always like WiFi networks without Internet access (they may ...

I don't get what you mean by presence, but you can get notifications of door bell button push and / or when motion detection gets triggered. I understood from the specifications that with SmartThings you can switch either one of them on or off and also drive another SmartThings device like a light switch based on the notification. There's more information ...

This ended up working for me: Create a new mode in Arlo app. Have it do any recording or notifications Connect Arlo to SmartThings (using Arlo Connect SmartApp) Add each Arlo device as needed Select each newly added Arlo device and set it to Inactive (click the green camera icon from status screen of Thing) As needed, update Smart Home Monitor routines (ie ...

I've found that this can be achieved using Sedentary Alert in VeryFitPro app for iOS, by selecting the start and finish time with the interval, and a smart watch will only vibrate in the morning when not active.

I'm familiar with a product which records information such as direction, speed (RPM), and torque on a device which operates at a high rate of speed. We aggregate data during normal operation, but if an error occurs during operation we send a very large file with pretty much all data for the session. Another product sends data a low rates during normal ...

Your question is a bit like saying "I want to use public transport so I don't need to buy a car and pay for its maintenance and gas, but I want to customise it". Online platforms such as Appypie's allow you to build an app using the features they offer. If the feature you want is not included, then you can't include it, and you need to either find another ...
